We began repairing fast crafts in 1992 when the Stena Lynx 1 arrived at Holyhead, which was replaced by the Lynx 2 in 1994, then subsequently the HSS Explorer the largest Aluminium Catamaran Ferry in the world.

We have allways carried out all relevant repairs to these vessels and to other fast craft and conventional vessels belonging to Stena.

We have also Clients around the world, some of our major Ferry companies are:

  • Fred Olsen in the Canaries which operate 6 Vessels
  • Conferry in Venezuela which operate 3 Vessels
  • EuroFerrys in Algeciras Spain which operate 1 Vessel

Also we Subcontract to Austal Ships, Australia, (Fast Craft Builders). Which we have carried out work for in Denmark, Sweden, Turkey, Venezuela, Greece and Japan. We have also subcontracted to Astican ship yard in Las Palmas on Major ship conversion which involved extensive build of aluminium accommodation deck /superstructure and modification.

Having Approved Welding Procedures and Coded Welders dual certified to D.N.V. and Germanischer Lloyd to E.N.287/ISO 9606 on Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Cunifer and Carbon Steel is a major asset to the company, and have built a good relationship with D.N.V. and GL surveyors around the world.

Benchijigua Express Main Engine Replacement Jan 2011

Fred Olsen Benchijigua Express H260, Two Aft Main Engines replacement along side at Santa Cruze Tenerife Port. January 2011 We were engaged for the removal of car deck section, frames and other ancillary structure to enable both port and stbd aft engine replacement. Introduction of bolted flanges to all applicable frames to enable ease of Future removal. Reinstall on satisfactory installation of the engines, all to Specification and Germanischer Lloyd’s approval. All work was completed in 12 days Start to Finish.

Bonanza Express Port and Starboard Hull Damage Repairs Jan 2009

The vessel suffered damage in late December 2008, repair work commenced in January 2009 and was a joint venture between D Hughes Welding 50% and Incat ( the original ship builders ) 50% the work consisted of the replacement of frames / structure and shell plate extensively to both hulls. The work was completed in Just over 4 weeks as predicted. All work carried out to D.N.V. approval.

Bocayna Express Installation of Bow Thruster Nov 2006

Engaged by Austal ( original ship builder ) for the removal of hull section and the installation of prefabricated T Foil Foundation Section.

P&O Express New Build Vehicle Ramp and Installation

Subcontracted by A&P for the Build and installation at Birkenhead in 2005.

Stena HSS Explorer New Bow Section

Contracted by Stena Line, primarily to carry out temporary repairs then to prefabricate sections at our workshop, transport to H&W Belfast for assembly. Installation completed in 12 days start to finish, January 2007.

Lynx 3 Hull Damage, Emergency Repairs at Holyhead

Engaged with Stena Line along side at Holy head and carry out permanent repairs, Feb 2010.
